CGI animated film “The Amazing Maurice — Waters of Life” has revealed its star-studded voice cast, which includes Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, Himesh Patel, Gemma Arterton, Adjoa Andoh and David Tennant.
The film is the sequel to the hit “The Amazing Maurice,” which grossed more than $24 million worldwide.
“The Amazing Maurice — Waters of Life” is set for release in the last quarter of 2027, with worldwide sales handled by Epsilon Film.
Laurie (“The Night Manager,” “House”) reprises his role as the roguish title character Maurice, alongside Clarke (“Game of Thrones,” “Me Before You”) as Malicia, Patel (“Yesterday,” “Tenet”) as Keith and Arterton (“Quantum of Solace,” “The King’s Man”) as Peaches.
Joining the cast is Andoh (“Bridgerton,” “Invictus”) as the formidable pirate cat Admiral Katz, while Tennant (“Doctor Who,” “Harry Potter”) returns as fan-favorite Dangerous Beans. The ensemble is rounded out by Peter Serafinowicz (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Shaun of the Dead”) as Death and Simon Callow (“Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “The Phantom of the Opera”) as Werewolf, among others.
Based on the novels by Terry Pratchett, whose Discworld series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide, the film follows Maurice, the most amazing cat in the world, or so he says, his friends Malicia and Keith, and the Clan Rats on a new high-seas adventure involving pirates, vampires, werewolves and sirens, and a perilous quest for the mythical Waters of Life.
The film is directed by Toby Genkel (“Ooops! Noah Is Gone…”) and Chris Drew (“The Adventures of Paddington”), and produced by Emely Christians (the “Niko” trilogy, “Two by Two: Overboard!”), Andrew Baker (“Badjelly,” “Bollywoof”), Robert Chandler (“A Christmas Number One,” “The Canterville Ghost”) and Rob Wilkins (“Good Omens,” “Choosing to Die”).
The screenplay is by Giles New and Keiron Self (“Mimi & Harold,” “Shaun the Sheep”), with character designs by Carter Goodrich (“Finding Nemo,” “Shrek”). The production designer is Heiko Hentschel (“Ooops! Noah Is Gone…,” “Rabbit Academy”).
“The Amazing Maurice — Waters of Life” is a Cantilever Media, Ulysses Films and Narrativia film in co-production with DCM Pictures, in association with Space Age Films.
