Amazon is rolling out a refreshed Prime for Young Adults membership, designed specifically for 18 to 24 year‑olds stepping into independence. Launched today, the revamped plan offers all the core benefits of a standard Prime membership but at a significantly discounted price.
New members begin with a six‑month free trial, then move to a rate of $7.49/month or $69/year, effectively 50% cheaper than the regular $14.99/month or $139/year plan. After the trial, members verify age via ID or student details to activate the continued discount
In addition to fast, free delivery, access to Prime Video, Music, Photos, Reading, Gaming, and Grubhub+, Prime for Young Adults introduces everyday and event‑specific cash‑back perks. For a limited introductory period, members earn 5% cash back on key categories like beauty, apparel, electronics and personal care. During Prime Day (July 8–11, 2025), that rate doubles to 10% — stacking on top of already heavily discounted deals.
Amazon is also rolling out “exclusive drops,” surprise-and-delight experiences and double or triple cash-back days throughout the year tailored for young adults. According to Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime, the enhancements are aimed at those “beginning their first job, moving into their first apartment or college dorm, or taking time to decide what’s next,” making Prime more “affordable, accessible, and fun” during this pivotal life stage.
With Prime Day fast approaching—and extending over four days this year (July 8–11) with themed “Today’s Big Deals”—the timing couldn’t be better.
