“You don’t have to be alone.” There’s a trailer available for a lovely new animated short film called Snow Bear, made by animation veteran Aaron Blaise as his own personal project. The short recently premiered at a film festival in The Netherlands and will eventually be released online this year – hopefully not too long of a wait. Blaise worked as an animation supervisor for Disney for decades, including on films like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, and many others. He also directed the animated feature film Brother Bear in 2006 but then moved on from Disney movies and Hollywood work. This 2D hand-drawn film was painstakingly created entirely by Blaise over 3 years – it’s made entirely by him in his own spare time. With his lifelong dedication to studying, drawing & animating animals, this adventure is infused with humor, relatability, and emotional depth in the tradition of classic animated films. It’s a charming story of a bear who makes a new friend. Yep this looks adorable and I can’t wait to see the entire short sometime soon.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Aaron Blaise’s animated short Snow Bear, direct from YouTube:
